The 2015 Essay Contest winners were recognized this past Sunday at the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum. Students, along with their families and teachers, heard from Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum Chairman Mike Turpen and survivor Terri Talley.
Turpen stressed the importance of incorporating the Oklahoma Standard; Service, Honor and Kindness into our daily lives. While, Talley shared her experience of how the Oklahoma Standard played a role in her recovery. Talley also represented Allegiance Credit Union, who sponsors the contest, and discussed how their institution remained strong and resilient after losing over half of their staff in the bombing. Oklahoma City National Memorial Executive Director Kari Watkins congratulated the winners and praised the students on their insights.
After the ceremony, attendees were invited to tour the enhanced Museum, which includes more in-depth information on the Oklahoma Standard.
